One of the more common ERR 99 causes is dirty lens-to-camera or battery contacts. I suggest while you have the batteries and such out of the camera that you turn it back off, then use a clean cloth, lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and carefully wipe all the contacts.

Reseting the continuous Numbering can sometimes fix the 999 and the 9,999 message. this can occour after you reach the 9,999 image range and or the folder numbering above 999.
